We want digitalgemology.com to work for as many people as possible, including people who use a screen reader, navigate by keyboard, magnify the screen or prefer less motion.
Conformance target
We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 and 2.2 at Level AA. We believe the pages published so far meet that target, with the limitations described below.
What we have done
- Every page has a semantic structure with landmarks (
header,nav,main,footer), a logical heading order, and a "Skip to main content" link. - Every link and control can be reached and operated with a keyboard, with a clearly visible focus indicator.
- Text meets AA contrast in both the black and the white theme. The site opens in black; you can switch to white with the control in the menu, and your choice is remembered on your device.
- Layouts reflow down to a 320 pixel wide screen and when zoomed to 400%, without sideways scrolling.
- Interactive targets are at least 24 by 24 pixels, and main buttons considerably larger.
- If your device asks for reduced motion, the gem illustration appears without its lighting-up animation and other transitions are switched off.
- Tables used for data have proper headers, and wide tables scroll within themselves rather than pushing the page sideways.
Known limitations
Colour carries meaning in the Light Return illustrations. Red, green and blue show different kinds of returning light. Wherever they appear, a text legend names each colour, and the illustration has a text description, so the meaning does not depend on seeing colour.
The files themselves are 3D geometry. Models and cutting diagrams are visual by nature. Each product page describes the cut in text, and cutting files include a tier table in CSV, which a screen reader can read in full.
The online tools are not here yet. The diamond simulator and related tools run at brillianilabs.com and have their own accessibility statement. When they move to this site, this statement will cover them.

How we assessed this
This statement is based on a self-assessment against WCAG 2.1 and 2.2 AA, combining manual testing, including keyboard-only navigation and checks at narrow widths and high zoom, with automated tools. We review it whenever the site changes significantly, and in any case before the store and the courses open.
