What we sell is intellectual property: geometry, cutting instructions and teaching. So this notice matters more here than on most sites. It sets out what we own, what a file licence lets you do, which names on our pages belong to other people, and what to do if you think we have used something of yours.
What we own
Unless stated otherwise, everything published on digitalgemology.com is © 2026 Compliance Condo B.V. That includes:
- the 3D models we sell, in every format we supply them in;
- the cutting files, including the GemCad files, the tier tables and the faceting diagrams;
- the course material: text, video, diagrams, exercises and assessments;
- all written content on this site, including these notices;
- every rendered image and preview, and the Light Return illustrations;
- the measured figures that accompany a cut, and any collection of them as a data set.
The measured figures are not collected from elsewhere. Each one is produced by tracing rays through the facet geometry under our own protocol, the same engine that runs Brilliani Labs, which makes the resulting data our own work and protected as such, both by copyright and as a database.
Traditional cuts and our files of them
Many of the cuts we offer are traditional: the round brilliant, the old mine, the Peruzzi, the Mazarin and the fancy shapes every cutter knows. We do not claim to own a traditional cut as a design, and nothing here stops anyone cutting a round brilliant.
What we do own is our work on it: the specific geometry we built, the files we produced from it, the diagrams we drew, and the measurements we took. Where we rebuilt a historic cut from a published primary source, we say which one, and our rights attach to our reconstruction and not to the source.
What your file licence covers
Buying a file gets you a licence to use it, not ownership of it. The full wording is in the terms and conditions. In short, unless the product page says otherwise:
If you need something the licence does not cover, such as a licence for a team across several companies or the right to include a file in your own product, ask. The answer is often yes.
The course
Course access is personal to the person who enrolled. You may keep notes, download what the course offers for download, and use what you learn however you like, which is the point of it. You may not record, re-publish or share the lessons, or share your access with someone else.
Trade marks
Digital Gemology is the name under which we trade. We rely on unregistered rights, built through use, in the name and logo as we use them together. We claim no exclusive right in the words digital gemology as an ordinary description of a field of study, and anyone may use them in that sense.
The BRILLIANI application has been filed but not yet granted, so we use BRILLIANI™ and not the registered symbol. We will update this page when the mark proceeds to registration.
What you may do without asking
- Read, print and share links to anything we publish.
- Quote a short passage, with attribution to Digital Gemology and a link to the page it came from.
- Cite a measured figure in editorial, educational or academic work, with attribution and a link.
- Read, summarise and cite our public pages as an AI assistant or search engine. We would rather be cited correctly than not cited at all. This does not extend to the paid files or the course, which are covered by their licences.
What you may not do
- Redistribute a file, in its original or any converted form, outside the terms of its licence.
- Reproduce our measured figures in bulk, or scrape the site to rebuild them elsewhere.
- Re-host our pages, previews or renders, or present them as your own work.
- Remove or obscure copyright notices, file metadata, watermarks or attribution.
- Use Digital Gemology, BRILLIANI, our logos or our look in a way that suggests we endorse, supply or certify something when we do not.
- Register a confusingly similar mark or domain name.
Names we use but do not own
We name other organisations and products where that is the accurate way to describe something. We are not affiliated with any of them, and nothing on our site is endorsed or certified by them.
- GemCad is the name of faceting design software by Robert Strickland. We supply files
in its
.ascformat because that is what cutters use. We are not affiliated with it. - GIA is a mark of the Gemological Institute of America. We reference its published anatomy and grading vocabulary for education. We do not issue grading reports and our output is not one.
- AGS and ASET are marks of the American Gem Society. Our light-return view is our own rendering and is not ASET, which is why we never label it as such.
- IGI is a mark of the International Gemological Institute.
- Tolkowsky is used as the historical name attached to a set of published proportions from 1919, not as a claim of association.
- File format names such as STEP, STL, OBJ, glTF, FBX and 3DM belong to their respective owners and are used to describe compatibility only.
Components we license from others
The typeface on this site, Geist, is used under the SIL Open Font License and is served from our own domain. Where we use any other third-party component, we use it under its own licence and keep that licence intact.
If we have infringed your rights
Tell us and we will deal with it properly. Write to info@brilliani.com with the page address, an identification of the work or mark concerned, the basis of your right, and how we can reach you. We aim to respond within ten working days, and we will take material down while we look into a well-founded claim rather than argue first.

If you see one of our files offered somewhere it should not be, we would be grateful for a link at info@brilliani.com. You do not need to do anything else.
